Hatred
for those she holds dear
and yet
Love and Understanding
war wages between
the light and the dark
and she never knows which side
will become the victor
Rage
for all those who have wronged her
and vengeance cries the night
her soul and heart corrupted
crying out for blood
and yet
serenity eases her fury
keeps it just below the surface
and with a smile out of sight
it's like a monster
consuming her from within
slowly devouring the light she clings to
and on some days
it seems so easy to let go
to allow the darkness to swallow her whole
to let the fire consume her entirely
but something makes her hold on
perhaps the hope sown by Prometheus
perhaps a tiny glimmer of the warrior within
Greeks do not surrender.
